December is a beautiful time to give back to the land and to each other. While most wild plants have already dropped their seeds, we can still gather some late-season seeds, share saved seeds from our own gardens, and care for the spaces we love.
This event blends light community service with winter garden connection — a gentle way to close the year with gratitude.
Light winter cleanup of our neighborhood, Valley Downs & Valley Gardens
Learn how to and collect any remaining viable seeds (late natives, grasses, coneflower heads, etc.) from public spaces.
Share saved seeds from our home gardens
Connect with neighbors and celebrate the close of the growing season
Families, gardeners, nature stewards, and anyone wanting to give back during the holidays.
Most wild plants drop seeds by late fall, but native grasses, coneflowers, rudbeckia, and some perennials still hold viable seeds into December. We’ll gather what’s available (ethically) and supplement with shared seeds from our own gardens.
